21 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 21.06.2019 Year 3 Expedition Week MTP News fromPre-Prep Expedition week has come rapidly upon us once again! The boys were very curious and excited at the prospects of the week ahead. At the beginning of the week, we enjoyed a day at Reveley Lodge, going back in history to see what it was like to be a Victorian school boy. The boys dressed up, paid their old penny to attend school and finished their experience with afternoon tea served with Victoria sponge cake, being taught the correct etiquette used in the Victorian era. Following this was an extremely active day attending Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre (HOAC). It was a team building experience where the boys, as expected, rose to all the challenges set for them. The activities included Orienteering, tackling a giant Spiders Web, navigating the Swamp, and trusting their friends to guide them along the Nightline. A great time was had by all! We concluded our Expedition with a delightful trip to Learning at the Lock. Situated on the Batchworth Lock, the learning centre provides knowledge of how canals were built, a visit to a renovated narrow boat, “The Roger”, along with a delightful sail down the canal to spot nature and wildlife. Again our boys had the opportunity to dress up like Victorians boys, complete a spot of canal art and find out what life was like working and living on the waterways. Another great experience that will long be remembered! Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre
