35 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 21.06.2019 Year 7 Expedition Week MTP News fromPre-Prep Geography is a beautiful subject and field work is a marvellous thing (well, sometimes) but when you’re shivering and soaked through and being battered by the wind on top of a Welsh hillside your mind can start to play tricks. Fortunately the exuberance and energy of our Year 7 boys provided the perfect tonic and despite a few knocks they managed to make as much as they could of the great outdoors and in turn collectively howled at the adverse weather. Trudging, sorry, skipping up and down and left and right they soared from one highlight to the next – studying microclimate, coastal processes and management, rock pools and the odd timid vole. We may have had to shorten our river study slightly but frankly the conditions would have made Captain America weep, so we didn’t feel too bad once we’d dried o and had a cup of hot choccy. Besides we also had crabbing, kayaking and raft building to look forward to. Adventure, so they say, is out there. And so is Geography, lots of it and it’s always nice to take a peek. Well done chaps. Richard Bowman Head of Geography Suited up TheWild Bunch The youngmen and the sea Raft Life Preparing for watery fun
