2 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 16.12.2021 Welcome from the Head This newsletter contains a huge variety of information relating to events that have taken place and great work that boys have done, and I hope that you enjoy seeing a flavour of some of the things we do in school. I would like to highlight a couple of things. Firstly, the amazing charitable endeavours of our pupils, from the brilliant work of many families who raised money for NeST (see later in this newsletter), to our popular and successful Bowvember campaign (see photo below), the great number of donations to the Socks n Chocs appeal, and the wonderful generosity of so many families who collectively donated over 1000 books to the Children’s Book Project. Instilling a sense of gratitude for what we have, and recognition for those who are not as fortunate as us, is a key feature of our work at school. Secondly, I am beyond delighted that we were able to have both the Y1/2 Production and the YN/R Concert last week, and it matters so much that we can savour these important moments with our youngest pupils in the school, particularly because we could not have live performances last Christmas. I am also delighted to announce that we have appointed a new Head of Pre-Prep, Mrs Quinlivan, who really impressed us with the perfect blend of warmth and experience. There is no doubt, in my mind, that she is the right person to ensure that Pre-Prep remains a happy and thriving part of the school. She will start officially in September, when Mrs Funnell retires, and is hoping to spend some time with us before then. Finally, I would like to wish all families a wonderful, peaceful, restful and healthy Christmas holiday. I hope that you all remain safe and well, and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday 6th January, when the new terms commences. Dr McNerney Head of Merchant Taylors’ Prep MTP This Month
