32 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 16.12.2021 MTP English The End Is Nigh. It was a very dull day and the sky was grey, the war was set to end today. The sounds of the guns kept ringing out, but then the soldiers heard a shout. The shout was loud and they heard it clear, it was to announce that the end of war was near. Many soldiers fought and died, but the remaining focused on the fact the end was nigh. Many of the people lived in hope, from the soldiers to the generals and even the Pope. English and the Germans both looked weak and weary, They were bent double and their watery eyes were bleary. Letters from the trenches came to and fro, as there were more deaths, they wanted to go. But suddenly a towel was thrown in, The English troops celebrated the big, big win. They celebrated that the end was nigh, they celebrated well, though many died. By Ryan Kalyan
