15 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 09.02.2023 MTP Year 4 Creative Writing Year 4 have been learning about the difference between fiction and non-fiction writing by reading a variety of books about wolves. One of the books used pictures to describe a hunt so the boys used their imaginations and wrote a narrative to accompany the pictures. Slowly the pack walks towards their prey as they follow the scent. They sniff for the moose and trot towards it. As they walk through the rest of the forest, the snow begins to fall. Suddenly they see a moose eating grass and then it lifts its head. The pack immediately crouch on their bellies while getting ready to pounce. They watch the moose’s actions until he puts his head back down. Then they pounce. They surround the moose after they pounce. The moose doesn’t know what to do but it runs. The wolves give chase. They surround it again making sure they don’t let it run. They advance leaping on the moose three at a time biting and eventually taking it down. Once they have eaten and are feeling full, they find some snow and dig a trench. There is a blizzard so they tuck their heads behind their hind legs and curl their tails to keep warm. They are now satisfied as they dream that the blizzard is over. By Aran Slowly, the pack walk towards their prey as they follow the scent. They sniff for the moose and trot towards it. Crouching, they spy on the moose and wait for it to move. They scan their surroundings until they’re sure they’re not being watched. At top speed, they sprint towards the moose, but it moves fast. They give chase, catching up to it, scratching and biting but eventually they manage to butcher the moose and they have a good feed. They rip it apart limb by limb, tear up its insides and eat until they are full and can eat no more. Under a snow pile, they snuggle up and drift off to sleep until a blizzard blows right in front of them. They curl up with their tails underneath their legs and heads and try to keep warm at least for the night. By Arun Slowly, the pack walk towards their prey as they follow the scent. They sniff for the moose and trot towards it. As they walk through the rest of the forest, the snow begins to fall. Suddenly they see a massive moose, so they crouch down on their bellies so that the moose doesn’t see them. They stare at the massive moose wondering how delicious it is. They hid behind the tree while the moose is going there, and they are ready to pounce.
