Year 2 29/01/26

An Imaginative Week in Year 2

This week Year 2 have been enjoying themselves across another of topics, but with one overarching theme - imagination. Whether they have been imagining themselves in someone else's shoes or on adventures of their own, they have been stretching the bounds of make-believe.

It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 2. In PSHE, the boys took part in a workshop focused on gratitude. Through discussion and activities, they reflected on what they are thankful for, developing an understanding of why gratitude is important and how it can make us and others feel positive.

Our learning in DT was inspired by our class text Traction Man. The boys designed and created their own hero, villain and sidekick, thinking carefully about character features and special powers. They showed fantastic imagination and enthusiasm, and it was wonderful to see their ideas come to life. As part of our speaking and listening work, the boys enjoyed sharing their favourite superheroes with the class, developing confidence in speaking and listening to others.

In Topic, we have been learning about the space race and the first person to walk on the moon. We spent time imagining how it might feel to be an astronaut going to the moon, considering emotions such as excitement, nervousness and awe. Well done Year 2 for a great week of learning and have a lovely weekend.
