When did you join Taylors’?

I joined Taylors’ in January 2026 after previously teaching at two independent schools. I spent several years at a co-educational prep school and then two years at a girls’ independent school, where I was Head of Computing. These experiences gave me the opportunity to teach computing across the primary age range and develop a real passion for the subject.

What most excites you about your role and what got you into it?

What excites me most about my role is helping children become confident and curious learners, particularly when they discover something new or make connections between ideas. I enjoy teaching computing because it combines logic, creativity and problem-solving. Pupils can learn programming and explore patterns and algorithms, but they can also be creative by designing videos, podcasts, games and apps.

I am also passionate about online safety and helping children become responsible digital citizens who understand how to navigate the online world safely.

Technology moves incredibly quickly, and there is always something new to learn, which makes the subject exciting to teach. I enjoy the challenge of learning alongside pupils and exploring new ideas together.

My journey into computing began when I oversaw the subject at my first school for six years. During that time, I also took on responsibility for the school’s marketing and digital strategy as Assistant Head. This included projects such as website development, school promotional videos and digital marketing, giving me real-world experience of many of the skills we teach in computing lessons. I later moved to a girls’ school as Head of Computing, where I taught computing from Reception to Year 6 before joining Taylors’.

What are you most proud of outside of your work at Taylors’?

Outside of school, I am proud to volunteer with the charity Inspire Malawi, which works to create inspiring learning environments for children in Malawi. I have supported the charity by helping with their website and creating marketing materials, and I also took part in a charity quiz event at the Old Bailey to raise money to help renovate Namcholi School.

I am also very interested in the conservation of historic places and natural landscapes. I am a member of the National Trust, Historic Royal Palaces and Kew Gardens, and I enjoy visiting these places throughout the year.

What did you study?

I studied BA Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status at Middlesex University. I also completed a qualification in Educational Operational Management with the National College of Education. Alongside this, I have continued to develop my computing knowledge through professional courses in areas such as Python programming and cloud technologies.

What piece of media would you recommend and why?

One film I would highly recommend is The Imitation Game. It combines my interests in history and computing and tells the story of Alan Turing and the codebreakers at Bletchley Park during the Second World War. Teaching students about Alan Turing is one of my favourite topics, particularly when they explore codebreaking and learn how early computers helped change the course of history.

I also really enjoy music, particularly classic rock. Some of my favourite bands include Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac and Metallica.
