Trading School Fields for Stadium Lights with Watford FC

Recently, our Year 3 and 4 sportsmen were invited to an incredible training session hosted by Watford FC. Training alongside professional coaches, the boys showed determination, skill and teamwork representing themselves and the School excellently.

The Spring term has seen an unforgettable experience for a number of our Year 3 & 4 pupils who have been invited along to the training ground of Watford FC

Our group had the incredible opportunity to be coached by the club’s first and second year scholars as part of their coaching qualifications. To step into a professional football environment, learn from aspiring pros, and experience the standards, intensity and culture of an elite setting is something we’ve never had access to before.

From the moment they arrived, pupils were buzzing with excitement as they walked out onto the same high-quality pitches used by academy players. They took part in a series of engaging drills designed to build confidence on the ball, improve decision-making and encourage quick passing and movement. The scholars created a really positive and supportive atmosphere, giving the pupils tips, encouragement and plenty of praise as they worked through each activity.

Pupils gained knowledge on developing their ball skills and attacking play in a fun and challenging environment, culminating in participation in a small tournament arranged by the scholars. The competitive games gave everyone the chance to put their new skills into practice, work together as a team and show great determination and sportsmanship throughout.

The boys represented the school brilliantly, embracing every challenge and taking away lessons that go far beyond the pitch. They showed fantastic teamwork, resilience and enthusiasm, and many left feeling inspired by the experience of training in a professional setting. Opportunities like this are truly invaluable — inspiring, motivating and showing what’s possible with hard work and dedication.

A huge thank you to everyone at Watford FC and Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust for making it such a memorable day.
