Wellbeing is not simply the absence of sadness or illness. It is a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and social factors. Wellbeing is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. In short, wellbeing could be described as how a person feels about themselves and their life.
The intent of our wellbeing programme and support network is twofold:
- Enabling our children to aim for, achieve, and sustain positive wellbeing.
- Supporting our children through episodes of poor mental health.

Enabling Positive Wellbeing
We advocate for our pupils and encourage them to speak up about their own wellbeing needs. We emphasise the importance of authentic, mutually respectful staff and child relationships, in which staff view each child holistically.
We also empower our boys with the skills needed to manage their own feelings and emotions through the teaching of mental health hygiene, and emotional literacy.
Wellbeing is not the responsibility of a single member of staff, a pupil or parent. We take a fully integrated whole school approach to pastoral care and wellbeing. A vital part of this is our open and effective communication with parents about their child's needs.
