A Seamless Transition to Senior School
From the moment your son joins us, we are thinking ahead to what will suit him best at 11+. Teachers work closely with families to understand each pupil’s strengths, interests and learning profile, shaping an experience that builds both character and capability. By the top of the Prep, boys understand how they learn, feel rooted in our culture and have the confidence to take on new challenges.
Our Prep and Senior School sites are adjoining and within easy reach of one another, which makes joint opportunities part of everyday school life. Boys regularly move between the sites for shared events, co-curricular clubs and the use of Senior School facilities.
Pastoral teams also work closely together, sharing insight and approaches so that relationships, expectations and support feel consistent as boys move up. As a result, the Senior School campus and staff are already familiar, and the transition feels like a natural progression rather than a step into the unknown.
We also recognise that a different senior setting may sometimes be more appropriate. Where the pace, structure or ethos of Merchant Taylors’ Senior School is not the best fit, we work in partnership with parents to identify and support applications to alternative schools that will better match their son’s needs and ambitions.
