Sewing the Real Taylors' Threads

Writes Sebastian D. and Shivam M. (Y6)

Our last term in Design and Technology, we have been doing some sewing. It has been one of our favourite topics we have done in art throughout our years as it was not too noisy, not to stressful and it was very calming.

As art monitors, we go down at 8:00 in the morning on Tuesdays to prepare for the sewing lessons. This is where we arrange all the threads and get the needles and work ready.

Our lesson normally starts at 12:15 and we finish at 13:15 so we have an hour to try and make good progress on our projects. We have learnt a running stitch, a cross stitch, and a back stitch. These three simple stitches have helped us to design our bookmarks and even make a little stuffed toy. It actually takes longer than you would expect as you have to learn how to do the stitch, figure out what you want to do and finally, execute your plan.

This has definitely been a fun leaver’s treat and overall has been amazing to do.
