At Merchant Taylors’ Prep, we believe every child should feel confident, enabled and valued. Our Learning Support provision is designed to identify and respond to the individual needs of our pupils, helping them thrive across all areas of school life.

Working in close partnership with teachers and families, we offer tailored support through small group interventions, one-to-one sessions, and targeted classroom strategies. Our focus is on nurturing key skills such as reading, writing, and executive functions, while also helping pupils develop a positive understanding of their own learning profiles and encouraging them to advocate for themselves from an early age.

Our Learning Support Department assists pupils through assessment and identification, referrals to external agencies, targeted interventions, study skills support, and in-class support where appropriate.

The Head of Learning Support coordinates and shares relevant information with staff to ensure a consistent and informed approach. However, we believe that every member of staff plays a role in supporting pupils’ learning needs, with the classroom as the primary setting for meaningful intervention.

Whether a pupil requires short-term support or ongoing specialist input, our approach remains child-centred, adaptable, and inclusive – ensuring that all pupils at Merchant Taylors’ Prep can access and enjoy a rich learning experience.
