Year 6 went to Oliver! – The Musical in the West End and we thought it was fantastic. The play was filled with songs: happy and sad, amazing staging and brilliant effects. We were seated on the front row of the Grand Circle so that we could see the whole stage. A very nice view if I should say so myself!
‘I found it a wonderful opportunity to see the West End production - and it was ten times better than I had expected. From lighting to cast to quality, it seemed an all-round theatrical masterpiece.’
The music was played by an orchestra hidden under the stage which was quite cool, and the actors were incredibly talented. All of Year 6 absolutely loved the actor who played Fagin (Simon Lipkin) as he had an amazing voice and character as well as an incredible sense of humour.
‘I don’t think I have ever seen a better adaptation from a brilliant novel to an all-ready brilliant play. Simon Lipkin as Fagin is simply a master of the stage being simply funny and he is able to convey emotion as well.’
Overall, we all enjoyed the trip so much and had a fabulous time – whether it was on the tube, (quite cramped!) in the theatre or watching the play. Everyone in Y6 will agree that this show was a masterpiece and it was genuinely an incredible opportunity to be able to see the show. All of us also want to give a big thank you to Mr Hinton, Madame Lad, Mr Edwards, and Mrs Cooper for taking us.
