School Council Makes Easter Delivery to Watford General Hospital

In line with Saikrish’s School Council initiative, we received a wonderful number of Easter eggs, more than expected, which is a real credit to Saikrish and his fellow councillors. With such great amount of Easter eggs Saikrish thought it was a good idea to donate them in person alongside his sister to Watford General Hospital. The hospital was delighted to receive the donation for the patients and wrote a thank you letter to Year 1 and 2. This is brilliant achievement for a Year 1 pupil and a great example of the impact of School Council in action.

Saikrish P. YR1, writes about how the project came about below.

Last term I really enjoyed being on the school council where the theme was Opportunity. Every two weeks we had a meeting in the office where we suggested lots of ideas so we could make the school a better and more fun place to come. I really enjoyed asking my friends for ideas that I could speak about. At the meeting we also got tasty biscuits and water!

Every meeting we spoke about lots of ideas. For example, one idea was where year one and year two take turns playing on the astro and apparatus. Another idea we spoke about in our school council meeting was the Easter Egg Project. There were two main aims to this project. The first aim was to improve on ourselves and reduce the treats that we wanted to buy for ourselves. The second aim was to use the money that we saved from not buying treats to buy Easter eggs to donate to sick patients in Hospital. For example, we could not have a hot chocolate at the café, not go to a restaurant, not buy a toy that we wanted, not spend a pound at the arcade or not buy an Easter egg for ourselves. We could then use the money to buy an Easter egg to donate to the hospital.

I thought it was a good idea to do this for to children and patients in hospital because they were sick and were missing Easter, so we could cheer them up with a sweet chocolatey treat. The hospital that we delivered it to was very happy to receive it and I could see a smile on everyone’s faces when we went to deliver the eggs. Thank you everyone for saving so much money, we received 80 Easter eggs! THAT IS AMAZING, well done everyone.

Thank you also to Mrs Quinlivan for letting us have the opportunity to do this project and be on the school council.
