Time Well Spent on Woodwork Clocks Project in Year 4

Writes Daniel Roach, Head of Art Design Technology

Year 4 have been excited to complete their desk clocks in house colours with only seconds to spare. A lot of hard work went in to creating these useful items and the finished clocks should help to ensure our boys are on time for years to come.

"I found this project really good because you could learn to use saws, mechanisms, and how to use and attach other parts. It was fun for me because I could use the wood glue (which was really sticky) and I could learn how to actually make the clock."
Achyutha A.
"My favourite bit of our woodwork clock project was when we were painting the clock because it looked really nice how it spread out really nicely and I love painting. My clock looked and felt nice because the edges were rounded and I sanded it really well, so it felt really smooth."
Max W.

This was the first time that Year 4 have used the workshop for a resistant materials project, and they were extremely sensible and followed all the safety rules extremely well. All the boys took great pride in their projects and should now feel more confident with a range of workshop tools and the processes involved in making a product.
