Writes Jack Denham, Sports and Head of Livingstone
Eight pupils from Years 2 and 3 recently enjoyed an exciting and memorable opportunity, having been invited to train at Watford FC’s training ground. The session formed part of a trial process to select players to represent the club at a national football tournament next month at Loughborough University.
This initiative is part of the Premier League’s South Asian Action Plan, which aims to encourage more boys and girls of South Asian heritage to take up football. During their visit, the boys took part in a high-quality training session before competing in a series of matches against players from Watford’s Player Development Centres.
They demonstrated excellent skill, determination and teamwork throughout, representing the school with great pride and enthusiasm. While we now await news on whether any of the boys have been selected for the final squad, their performances on the day were outstanding. Each of them should feel immensely proud of what they have already achieved, and we congratulate them on making the most of this fantastic opportunity.
