Writes Dominic Todd, Director of Sports and Head of Newton House
The Pre-Prep Sports Showcase was a wonderful celebration of all that our Year 1 and Year 2 boys have achieved in PE this year. It was a joy to see so many parents join us on the day and watch their son demonstrate all the skills, confidence and enthusiasm they have developed through their lessons, whilst embracing every challenge with determination, resilience and a great sense of fun.
This year’s event was made even more special as it marked the first time our Year 1 and Year 2 boys had the opportunity to wear their House colours. There was a real sense of pride as the boys represented Johnson, Livingstone, Newton and Wren, cheering on their teammates and working together towards a common goal.
Throughout the afternoon, the boys showcased not only their growing physical skills, but also the qualities that matter most: teamwork, encouragement, perseverance and sportsmanship. It was particularly pleasing to see every boy fully involved, supporting one another and celebrating each other’s successes. While there was certainly a healthy competitive spirit, the emphasis remained firmly on cooperation, collaboration and participation.
The event provided a fitting opportunity to reflect on the tremendous progress the boys have made throughout the year. We were incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves and the enthusiasm they brought to every activity, making the showcase a memorable occasion for pupils, staff and parents alike.
