Writes Mrs Robinson, Nursery Lead & EYFS Forest School Teacher
Autumn has brought lots of excitement to our Forest School adventures! The children have loved exploring the woods for the very first time, discovering the wonders of the natural world and, of course, the much-anticipated conkers! There was great excitement as little hands searched among the leaves and proudly collected these autumn treasures.

Our outdoor adventures have also included plenty of sensory exploration, from pouring and splashing water to mixing, scooping and creating wonderful concoctions in the mud kitchen. The children have been busy investigating, experimenting and following their own ideas through play.
Throughout these experiences, our Learning Friends have been shining! The children’s natural curiosity has encouraged them to investigate their woodland surroundings, while their concentration and perseverance have been evident as they explore different materials and discover what happens when they mix, pour and create. As they play alongside one another, they are learning the value of collaboration, sharing ideas and resources, while growing in independence as they make choices and lead their own learning. These shared adventures are also nurturing compassion as the children learn to care for one another and their environment, and developing wisdom as they begin to understand and appreciate the natural world around them.

We are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm, growing confidence and sense of wonder as they embrace these new experiences. We look forward to many more muddy, magical adventures as autumn unfolds!
