Writes Mr Denham, Head of Livingstone House
On Saturday 10th October our U11A Football team entered the Orley Farm Tournament for the first time in our history. The event has been running for over 20 years, and we were delighted to be invited to compete alongside the likes of Berkhamsted, Beechwood Park, Durston House and St Martins.
Having played several of the teams in recent competitions we knew it would be a tough task, but we started really brightly and managed to draw our opening game 1-1 against recent Merchant Taylors’ Prep Larkin Shield winners Berkhamsted. The following games saw wins against Durston House (3-0), Orley Farm (4-0) and St Martins (2-1).
This essentially set up a final against Beechwood Park in the last game. A 0-0 draw meant the top of the table could not split Taylors’ and Beechwood Park on points, head-to-head result or goal difference. It came down to goals scored, with our 10 goals going up against Beechwood Park’s 9, meaning that we were crowned champions of this year’s tournament! A fantastic achievement by the group, winning our first piece of silverware for the season.
Congratulations to all boys involved and thank you to all parents that were able to come along and support on the day.
